- Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
- Supporting each child’s social and emotional development
- Communicating positively and effectively with families who are picking up their children
- Helping other teachers clean and shut down classrooms at the end of the day
- Experience and/or course in the field of Early Childhood Education or related field preferred, but not required
- Must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in high school or GED program OR at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED OR at least 21 years of age
- Able to meet fingerprint and background check requirements in accordance with the regulations of The MA Department of Early Education and Care.
- Skilled at developing relationships and communicates effectively with children, co-workers, parents, and supervisors
- Able to work well both with and without supervision
- Empathetic and compassionate
- Dependable, reliable, and adaptable
- Collaborative with others while working together toward a common goal
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an outstanding ability to listen and follow up on issues constructively
- Ability to calmly address stressful situations professionally while multi-tasking to ensure smooth school operations
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. For Infant and Young Toddler Teachers, must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib, as well as onto changing tables.
- Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid
- Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses
- Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
- Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies
- Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved
- Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations
